Energy Australia - Morwell River Diversion Channel Lining

Projects ~ Liners

Principal: Energy Australia
Head Contractor: RTL
Location: Morwell, VIC
Date:

Project Scope:

Fabtech was engaged by RTL to design, supply, and install a complex multi-layer geomembrane lining system to the Yallourn Power Station’s channel diversion in Morwell, VIC requiring 570,000m2 of materials and 30kms of welding with QA approval.

Additional Information:

Fabtech’s design addressed technical performance and material manufacturing optimisation to minimise material wastage. The design identified complex material specifications to line the coal subgrade, with a rigorous MQA regime to be complied with. The multi-layer system comprised: subgrade, compacted clay, woven geosynthetic reinforcing, GCL, textured high flexibility LLDPE, non-woven geosynthetic cushion layer, GCD drainage, and compacted clay. Fabtech’s tailored installation process  involved intermittent coordination with civil contractors to meet the technical requirements, provide safe working conditions and schedule efficiency.
